He's upgrading in summer; I don't really see a point in upgrading now when he has one of the best video cards currently available. Six months is not too far away.

I'm not one of those people who waits constantly for new stuff to come out...if I set a date I'm planning on buying stuff, I buy it on that day. I'm not gonna wait for something that's coming out in 4 months.

Fair enough. Didn't like the specs anyway. ATI is a better choice (and cheaper)

I don't buy by brand when it comes to electronics/PC's. Whatever's better at the time, I'll get. If it's an nVidia, I'll get the nVidia. If it's an ATi...well, you get what I'm saying.

I've been out of the tech loop for a while, school/aeronautic studies and such.

obviously I meant for nVidia cards...I haven't even bought an ATi card since 2005 so I don't even really remember who the manufacturers are besides Diamond, who made mine. X550, lol.

Yeah knitpicking I know, I love it There aren't any ATI manufacturers that would have as well-proved warranties/support as EVGA/XFX/BFG though, and that is too bad. Haven't specifically heard anyhthing bad of any regular vendors either though.

But yeah, I never really hear people raving about any ATi manufacturers like people do with EVGA (like I do, I fucking <3 them) and XFX.

I'd trust Gigabyte though. They make some good shit. And they're a dualie!

Not at all...there's differences in rebates, quality of customer service, extra perks that come with the card, EVGA's 90 day step-up program...the list goes on.

Uh, no. 100%, completely wrong. The quality of customer service varies greatly between card manufacturers from what I've heard, seen and experienced. To claim they're all the same is ridiculous. That's like saying Dell's customer service is the same as Apple's just because they both make computers. Ask anyone who's had a venture with Dell's customer service - I think they'll tell you their CS isn't exactly the world's greatest.

Do you even know what the Step-Up program is? All you do is pay the difference between the card you have and the card you want. Ebaying the card after it's been used will get you way less money than you would by just paying the difference between the two cards.

Customer service is useless. If the card is broken, take it back to the shop. If it works you won't need customer service. Drivers are provided by nvidia/ati. Why do I need customer service?

in the end you're still overpaying. For what you saved by not going evga you can easily recover the loss of value. If you're lucky you can even score a higher price than you got it on ebay
