So essentially, no, we can't reverse it.  Big maybe on slowing it down fully depending on the variables earth presents.  Sounds like earth is more powerful than we will ever be, which is what I have always thought.

Assuming, for the sake of argument, global warming/climate change is caused by man, does anyone honestly think the human race has the power to reverse it?

Edit: If you believe we do have the power to reverse climate change, how would we go about accomplishing the reversal?
No. What's done is done.

But that doesn't mean we should make it worse.

Of course it is. It has the power to wipe off the face of the planet if we upset it too much.

wipe ourselves off maybe, but life in general has survived global cataclysm before.

And it's done so by casting off deadweight.

Let me make it clear: in the long-term, man-induced climate change may be the best catalyst possible for evolution and ecological progress. But that is a long term which does not involve us.

We won't kill the environment. It'll kill us first, if we force it's hand.

Actually I believe that we can reverse the rate at which the problem is happening. And why wouldnt we. Coal will run out, Petrol/Gas will also increase in value/run out after the recession is over. Its a win/win if we do invest in fixing the problem. Think it will effect the economy if we change now, imagine how it will effect the economy if we leave it for 20-30years or so.

We can't reverse it, but....  we can affect the speed of it.  Slowing it down is the goal here.

Granted, that's not going to happen....

We went to the moon 40 years ago. What's your point?

Funny you should say that. Tonight I recieve an award for excellence in geo... which is ironic considering I dropped the subject first moment I could.
