Having Trouble with GTA - IV

D: Hi all!

Today I bought GTA IV , installed it, instaled social club, installed Win LIVE games, Framework, all other shit.

Nao I want to "play" it but is wont start its like

"double clicking GTAIV.exe"
"mouse pointer turns into sand thingy"
"and the fucking game never says anything again"

In the "task manager".

When double clicking GTAIV.exe "LaunchGTAIV.exe" pops up into the manager and dissapears after 1/2 sec and windows act's like GTA never started.

My PC can handle GTA4

AND ITS NOT ILLIgal

PLZ HALP!!1!!111

tried running it through the actual folder for the game? i had this problem a few times, the .exe shortcut on the desktop wouldn't work.

I read that a patch was incoming? Also i read something relevant to Direct X, you could try updating that.

Oh, i've had this problem with a few games before.

1) Restart windows.
2) ensure you have enough diskspace (games do not like running with 48k free )
3) kill a load of processes, and try again.

However this works most of the time but not always, but it usually disappears after a day or two

Try disabling your Human interface Device in the Device menu in right click-my computer-devices.
Worked for me for many games that won't start.
Don't ask me why that works.

If you have any burning programs, like Alcohol 120 or similar programs, the SecuROM kills the launch. I'm guessing Daemon tools and similar will cause it as well.

Also, don't forget to disable your AV. Because of the way SecuROM tries to scan your system, your AV program may detect it as malicious activity and kill the launch.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. Try what I said. My buddy was having the exact same problems with Fallout 3 and the SecuROM. One problem is SecuROM wasn't going to play because of his burning software. The other was because the way SecuROM tries to see what is on your system, the AV would shut it down as malicious activity.

As I suspected it was the GTA(serial)+GTA(.Exe security)+DRM+SECUrom+Rockstar Social Club+Win Live

I had to do a "rollback" Uninstalled GTA+Social club+Win Live in save mode killed SECUrom/GTA/Social/Win Live with reg edit.
Again after a restart killed 50 more reg edit strings that appears due to SECUrom and reinstalled GTA and it works

Wuts the problem

I've entered the wrong serial but I never had the "wrong serial" message and when uninstalling and reinstalling gta you never have to reenter your serial this is a conflict with the "validation and SECUrom and what else"

^thx but no, you would get a black screen and it would crash there with a "black screen"

start it with socialclub, dont log in (skiplogon) and press "play" tht helped me.

sometimes u have to try it several times, 3 or so in my case.
