The second card didn't even start. The third one has worked prefectly however.. I have never had this trouble with any Nvidia product. I know its weird but I hate the stuffing around. Isn't it best to get 3 or 6 GB's of ram so it can run triple-channel? Or am I being stupid?!
TRUE's name is far longer. And you need to get a fan and LGA1366 mounting kit seperately.haffeysucks wrote:

It is. That's why I got 6GB Tri-channel kit.james@alienware wrote:

edit: also it is worth noting 3GB vs 6GB has a huge difference in minimum fps with Core i7. So... the 6GB is the old 4GB now.
edit: more serious thing... my damn MX510 IS FAILING. got it working again by hitting it 5 times with my fist....

Interesting discussion. I have to build my gf a comp for about this amount of money and was wondering what to get.
Personally i wouldn't spend $529 on a mobo though. That just seems retarded to me. Unless you can't go much cheaper because of i7. I've been to lazy to read into or check prices on i7

If that is your reason to not use ATI, then I feel very sorry for you.BrimstoneFire wrote:

ANY manufacturer to ever deal with PC hardware has had bad bunches, DOA components, faulty stuff, something go wrong during fab, etc etc. You happened to get two in a row that were bad which is unlucky and rare, however, look at all the people using the same card with absolutely no problems. Myself, for one.
Biased opinions have no place in PC hardware. Buy what is fastest, what is the best available, and what is the best bang for the buck. Don't buy cause "you like it better", unless you like wasting money.
Having said that, I do believe the nVidia GTX260 is the new "best value" card with the recent price drops.
Not in the UK.CrazeD wrote:

Then you are doing something wrong, because they work fine for everyone else that uses them.BrimstoneFire wrote:

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
I have used lots of ATi cards. NONE has failed me. Even my first ATi, the 3D Rage II+DVD still works.CrazeD wrote:

I have had couple NVIDIA cards fail on me. like one 8800GTX had dying PWM that caused lots of funky heat problems lol.
ALL manufacturers have DOA stuff... better be prepared just in case if the one you get might be DOA. just bad luck...
