Ive never ever seen Karkand as a "teamwork" map. I treat it as my map "off" from teamwork, where I can run round doing as I want trying to Kill Kill Kill with the odd flag a bonus.  I'll try n get right up by the arty and shoot the USA in the back as they spawn and run.  I know within half an hour Zatar is probably going to load up so back to teamplay with my mates. Zatar is usually next as I play EA UK 64 serv's. I was laying loads of Clays until recently but now I prefer the new auto sniper rifles with the 2 feet, lol.

I dont mind Karkand, I think the biggest problem is not the noob tubers on the other team, but usually the ones on your own. I mean a well packed APC can take any of the back flags with a little strategy, as can a Humvee going to the left.  I guess if you want to play Lemming style (which I like to do every so often) it can get borring.  Sometimes I like the old Deathmatch feel by running balls out into the hotel guns blazing.  Other times I feel like using my head a bit more.

I've always liked Karkand though I haven't made an effort to play only city map.  Last night I got onto a 64 player Karkand-only server and it was one of the worst bf2 experiences i've had.   Everybody was obsessed with whoring of some kind and nobody seemed to play to win.

When I got my hands on a USMC APC I sneaked through the front line and headed to the rear and managed to cap the MEC rear base.  NOBODY on my team would spawn on it to defend it.  They all kept spawning on the hotel.  Total crap.

Conversely, when I have played on servers that rotate through all the maps or even the city map the experiences on karkand have been fine.

One last point about Karkand whoring: Pretty soon there'll be a new BF2 #1:  -=RD=-Volx  Reason I say this is because his spm is much higher than the two ahead of him and he plays quite a bit.  Only problem is that the guy plays only on Karkand...to me this totally cheapens his accomplishments.  I have a ton more respect for a player like bushviper (http://bf2s.com/player/bushviper/) who dominates in all aspects of the game than someone who only plays on map where he armor and c4 whores.  Anyone else know what I mean?

i still kinda like it... i hate the first part if u r american team, just grenades and more grenades... there there is an alleyway full of claymores.... but i like to be special forces in this, i sneak quite well...

of be a sniper and take out the commander...

That's a good point.  I play an all Oman server the most, and I find that it is a COMPLETELY different experience when I rotate into Oman on an all maps server.  The one-map servers take on a life of their own.  If you want to enjoy Karkand again, don't get on 24/7 Karkand servers.  Get it off a rotation on an all maps server.  There is WAY less nade-spamming and way more teamwork.

Also, if you DO join an all-Karkand map, don't complain that everyone is a sniper or support or medic if YOU are playing one of those kits.  Go as Engineer and LAY THE MINES YOURSELF.  Don't complain that nobody else does.  Well, unless you want to hear everyone else complain that YOU were claymore/pkm/shock paddle whoring.

Which server do you play on? I think I remember killing you a few times in an APC.
Mainly EA UK servers.

Insomnia 24/7 karkand and TV2 Karkand if I'm playing 24/7 maps

it is interesting to note the difference between rotating servers and one or two map only servers.  i think the latter caters to those that are looking for a certain individual achievment (kills, score, awards etc) where as the rotating servers cater more to the folks who want a more general fun gaming experiance.

I've always enjoyed the 32 player version of kark ... the 64 player version we always end up trapped inside the wharehouse, defending it and watching the timer countdown to 0 because the USMC capped all the flags.

16 player version is too damned short lived ...

On the 64 player version, I thought the grenade spamming was limited to the server I always play it on ... lol I'm such a dope ...

I admit I've turned into a PKM whore whenever there's no tanks / apc's around though for what it's worth I always squad up and try to cap flags, not just sit around and spawn rape.
Yay!  A fellow player from Hawaii!  Fiftieth state, unite!  We may get crappy pings since the nearest servers are 2000 miles away but...no damn ocean is gonna stop US from fragging your sorry asses!...Ok, sorry, just got a little excited there.

Ever since 1.2 I admit Karkand's not as fun as it used to be.  I could go without PKM snipers and USMC soldiers with Major League pitching arms for grenades...In my opinion, Sharqi Peninsula is a superior map, if only because (can't believe I'm admitting this) the attack choppers help keep the APC/armor in check.  That and the Construction Site/TV Station allow for sniping opportunities, perfect for a mediocre sharpshooter like myself.
