I have a 250 HDD that is seperated into a C: and D:
I did this because i used to dual boot but now its empty and i need the space.

So how do I merge the D back into C?

thanks

make sure everything on D: is backed up
right click computer --> manage --> disk management
delete partition D:
extend partition C:

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

It'll need to be converted to a Dynamic drive if it's not already (it will say Primary partition and Extended partition if it's not).

right click the drive in disk management and convert

you don't need to have a dynamic disk to extend the partition though ...

XP thing mebe? I don't remember being able to do that in 2000.

Vista always makes a Dynamic.

I'm not sure about XP, don't think so

Vista doesn't make dynamic by default.

Dynamic is for win 2k or win server 2003, Basic is for everything else. That doesn't mean you can't have basic on 2k or the other way around. Theres just no point in having a dynamic hdd on xp. You can't have dynamic on older OS though, win98 for instance as it wont recognize it.
