Yesterday, I was playing cs:s, and suddenly everything froze, after realizing I couldn't do anything, I shut the comp manually. I tried to put it back on, but it just says "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter", what the f should I do? And now, when I turn on my comp, I can choose normal start up or some fix thing, if I choose the normal, it will try to load windows but it just takes like 10mins, and then that message. If I choose the fix thing it will also get stuck at loading windows just before inserting my pass for my user, then a desktop pic shows up, in the middle of it, there's a white box with the text "please wait" and after about 15-20secs, the comp shuts it self off. My OS is windows vista.
BTW, explain step by step cause I'm not really good at these things, and sorry for my bad English.

Try system repair by inserting Vista's installation disk and pressing "R" when it asks you what to do. Can't be more precise as it was ages since I did it the last time.

OEM installation? Maybe try "Last known configuration". Restart your PC and look for it. It should appear during boot.

Not sure if that would work, i'd reccomend getting hold of a windows vista disk.

borrow one off a friend or pirate it (don't buy it, you'll only need it for reinstalling)

Still, try last known good config first, it's much easier than getting the disk Also did you get any "recovery software" when you bought the PC?

Sounds like you hard-drive has failed. But try the other two options first.last known config,i assume you tried booting in safe mode too?

Even if your hard-drive has failed you will have to re-install

Eh? That looks like BIOS mate

Wait until the BIOS goes away, then before the Vista loading thing comes up press F8 (at least i think it's f8, i generally just lean on the keyboard until the menu comes up )

It's in the BIOS. Wait until that goes away, you want a Vista boot options menu

It'll say

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with command promp
Safe Mode with networking

Last Known Good Configuration

Start Windows normally

or something similar

Under hard disk that doesn't really seem the HDD. Go in BIOS and reselect HDD as primary booting device.

in that menu try safe mode and last known good config

what happens?

also regarding testing your HDD when the computer POSTs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-on_self-test), what is in the same place as these 2 boxes?

https://i42.tinypic.com/j6lz6f.jpg

If it mentions something about your main HDD (make, model, size, etc) then it's detected it and it's just your bios being silly. If not, then you've got a problem

It mentioned something about HDD(if u want a pic I can take)The last known config. made no difference, got stuck while loading windows, and when I tried the safe mode it started to load some windows/system32 stuff, and it's been there for a while saying, "wait..." And now I got the same error disk boot failure bla bla...

Well seeing as it's loading then your HDD probably is detected, i don't think theres a problem there.

Sounds like your install of windows is corrupted.

You're going to need a windows Vista disk (any edition will do, the disks are the same).

If you want to keep your data, you need to do a repair install (this basically reinstalls windows but leaves all your programs and data intact).

If this doesn't work, or you don't care about the data on the disk, reformat + reinstall vista. (if you do this make sure you have the vista product key that came with your PC).
