My parents promised a long time ago they would get me a new phone at this price range. Now that my army is almost over, its time to get me that phone.

I need a phone with:

Decent camera
Wlan 
Decent music features
Nice looks
Good battery life

I'm so dropped out of the new phone tech as I have a half-dead 3310 so please help me get a good phone.

It's time for me to get a phone that a tech-whore like me deserves. (not have to go in a dark room embarrased to use that old school 3310)

The Renoir looks nice and has an outstanding camera (8MP with all the trimmings) along with all the features you've mentioned as well as recording video direct to Divx and having Dolby mobile.


(I have no idea what phones actually cost, since I always get mine free with my contract)

The Nokia E51 is pretty nice. Has a nice media player, really quick WLAN, 2MP camera with completely ok picture quality and above average video quality. Battery can last over a week if you aren't playing with it 24/7.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Not really.

A mate has one, it only keeps crashing on him. Every other day, it starts up in some recovery mode.

I liked my blackberry, and then it got run over and smashed under the wheel of a cube van. It still works...except the LCD is cracked.

The iPhone can't take videos, so MMS works to the best of its capability.

In the ... several ... months that I've owned my iPhone it has only once crashed so that I had to reboot it. So I'd recommend getting that sorted out

Blackberry durability is beyond impressive. I couldn't tell you how many times my brother has dropped it with force, onto concrete, down stairs, once accidentally throwing it (don't ask) and it still works fine.

Well you could get a 2G for that, you'd be looking at 300 for a 3G if you'd take advantage of it.
