OK, so i need your help bf2s.

Noticed some extreme lag in GTA4 earlier, decided it was just a crappy graphics card and thought nothing of it until i noticed my CPU usage was idling at 50% (not in game), task manager says nothing is using it up, closed all un needed programs, rebooted to no avail.

Temps look good to me, I can't really figure it out.

Running vista home prem.

2 gig of ram

Any ideas?

You should be running fah and idling at 100%
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

It's Vista.

Dude I had 400MB of RAM used at idle when I was running Vista. The amount of shit he has running has nothing to do with Vista.

The amount of processes i have running is not the problem, as none of the processes shown are taking up any resources really. The problem is Searchindexer.exe

shown there, apparently it's an issue they are aware of but don't seem to be doing much about it other than reformat your machine, I'll have a little play with the registry tomorrow and see what happens.

I'm using 500MB of RAM right now on Ubuntu, just booted into it.

It's not really a problem when you have 6GB tbh.

When I installed Vista a couple of months back, it was indexing for about 4 days. Just leave it be and see if it gets any better.

I believe its Vista indexing. When its finished it will stop. But it does index pretty often. I'm pretty sure you can disable it. Try Googling.

I actually find the feature worth it. I like having the Windows folder indexed when I need to find WinXwdaih32-64Q.DLL or alikes.

Fail

i have 49 with over9000 applets and shit running (g15 takes up about 10, FAH and assocaiated shit takes up about 5), but all of them are actually useful and neccesary

use msconfig to disable all your useless shit]

also vista search is the ultimate in fail, when i had vista it couldn't even find stuff, no matter how many times i told it to index that folder, waited a week and tried again
