Sir yes sir! 5.1 system then and the receiver supports 7.1. Do your speakers also support dual connections? You could make a quadrophonic setup (besides the 5.1) for music listening. Unless if you want to listen in surround (SACD, DVD audio) so dual stereo A+B

No the current speakers are these:

I plan on using these floorstanding speakers for my front LR and Surround LR and keeping the stock two in teh back as well as the center channel stock for now.  Not alot of shit supports 7.1 right now so i want to upgrade the others first.. Im confused about this quadrophonic thing, ive never even heard that word before. haha

It will work nicely as all the speakers in the link above have a "bass" speaker. It would not be good for the speakers if the floorstanding speakers had bass and the other ones not. Then you would have to cut off low bass frequencies to all speakers except sub woofer OR leave bass but the small ones without bass will suffer. But since they all have bass that will perform nicely. Quadro setup is consisted from 2 main stereo speakers. If you want to have two setups (one cable from speaker to amp for surround and one from speaker to amp for music) the speaker needs to have 2 connections in the back. You could also plug both cables into one input of the back of the amp and get double the wattage power if you have a weak amp and powerful speakers for instance.

The only thing I would add is that a set of floor standing speakers doing rear duty might be a bit overkill for the average HT setup.  But it's your money and those speakers aren't expensive.

I was kinda thinking the same.  Maybe just front LR?

yes, your fronts are the workhorses.  If I were you, I wouldn't even worry about 7.1 surround now,  you'd be better off upgrading your front center or getting a sub.

I was looking at the owners manual that came with my TXSR606 reciever and it says it supports biamp connections for front LR but that negates 7.1.  so im thinking ill get two towers, prolly the polks I linked and connect them with bi am connection, use the stands that were on my front LR for teh stock surrounds as rears.. maybe  a new center channel too, any suggestions?  WIll going the biamp route with teh larger speakers be the best course of action?

There is some improvement with biamping.  Is the receiver capable of horizontal or vertical biamping?  Spend as much as you can on the center channel, it does nearly all the voice work.  This one looks nice.

Nice center. I've got the CSi5.

It will have no trouble powering those speakers. You will hit the barrier of what your ears can handle before you max out the volume.

It's not about maxing it out. It's about sounding better louder.

Well i ended up getting a klipsch center and just two of those polks.  Gonna bi wire/amp the towers and have all three units using high quality monster speaker wire and monster bananas plugs.

I got this center:

Klipsch RC-52

Its pretty dope.  UPS says the polks will be here tomorrow.  Pics when all set up!!

Tell me Kmarion or anyone else, what benefit will this device provide?  I have seen them on theater set ups in the store but am unsure what they do... Is it anything more than a glorified surge protector?  Cause  I already have a really nice one I bought w/ my LCD (also by monster).
