What kind of power does one need to play <700mb .avi files on a 27" non-flat TV? I have an old Pentium III with a GeForce 2 lying around, would that suffice?
A P2 can play a DVD. I'm assuming "700MB AVI" means DivX, which as far as I'm aware doesn't need that much power, but would still need higher than MPEG2.
So, prolly.
So, prolly.

I won't need to play HD files, seeing as I only have a 27" non-flat TV
I was thinking of digging up that old machine and installing some really light weight Linux distro on it.

It'll do
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

AFAIK, DSL has a smaller footprint. The image is half the size of PuppyLinux anyway. Plus, you can run it all in RAM if you only need to do the same task over and over.Sydney wrote:

Puppy Linux has failed me, it worked perfectly, except it couldn't full screen videos, I suspected a driver problem so I tried to update drivers, but it won't recognize the network card. Trying out Deli now, will try DSL if that fails.mikkel wrote:

Kubuntu is heavier than standard Ubuntu, as KDE takes more resources than Gnome. Xubuntu is the most light weight ubuntu AFAIK, using XFCE.FloppY_ wrote:
