So I'm back for a month from college and I figure it's probably not a bad idea to reformat my computer... however, I don't really want to lose all of my save files like I usually do. I have a 1 TB external hard drive that I back up my entire computer to, so if I reformat Vista, can I just copy/paste the game save files and expect it to work or is there something else you have to do?
If you place the saved games in the same folder as they were it should work for almost all games.
Saved games from most recent games are located in C:\Users\NAME\Documents\My Games\GAME\Saved Games\ or something alike. Just back them up and put them in the same place after reformat and you should be good.

Well I'll have you know, I have quite the collection of saved game files myself.
It's what I did for Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 when I played them on my brothers computer and wanted to move them to mine.
