Okay so I have an eVGA 680i SLi motherboard with an E6600, and I'm quite content with it. I know that there are better things out but it works fine. Unfortunately, I looked in the Fry's Ads today and noticed that they're selling an E8500 with a crappy ECS motherboard for $134.99.. That's a pretty freaking good deal.
So questions:
1) Are there any problems that I would run into when I put an E8500 into a 680i chipset (I'm planning on reformatting the drive this afternoon anyway so if that's necessary it's no big deal).
2) I could return the ESC motherboard in the future for about 80 bucks and the processor would end up costing me about 55 dollars or I could give it to my brother with my old E6600 to replace his AMD 4600+ X2. My only reservations would be the fact that I've heard not so good things about ESC boards (mainly that they're bad overclockers but he doesn't do that so it wouldn't hurt anything) and that their quality isn't the highest.
Your thoughts?
