Hey guys, got an Xbox for my Christmas and I had to find an extra ethernet cable, now I got one I'm trying to network it.

I have plugged the ethernet cable into the back of the Xbox, and into the 10/100/1000 Card in the computer.
I have plugged the other cable into the Mobo ethernet port.

The internet is running fine into my computer (which is why I can post)
But the Xbox isn't finding anything.

Any thought would be greatly appreciated and Karma dished out.

Oh yeah, and if you need specs just ask.

I think you need to set up connection sharing within XP. Check in Network Settings.

Windows Vista (maybe XP too?) recognises the Xbox as a Media Extender whenever you turn it on as long as they're both networked via Ethernet/Wireless to the same network hub or router. Follow the Add Media Extender wizard that pops up and hey presto, you're free to use the astounding capabilities of a networked Xbox... that is, put all of your music and films on the tiny hard-drive .

And play music from your PC.

We've got Homeplug internets, so you're saying just plug them both into homeplug adapters and they'll find themselves through the router?

Router is downstairs, longest Ethernet cable = ~3M.
