My little brother racked up a £2000 credit card / PayPal bill on a World of Warcraft private server in the space of about 3 months. That's when taking your parent's credit card gets out of hand- much lulz were had :p
please elaborate, this sounds like funniesUzique wrote:

oh and @ finny, ebuyer's super saver delivery usually = 2 day delivery so this was probably pointless

I can elaborate, although it is a very sad tale of a young man's downfall...JoshP wrote:

As you may or may not know, WoW private servers are either an alternative-playing haven for those who a) don't want to pay the subscription or b) those who don't want to actually level to 70/80 and have to put in time and effort to get the gear. My brother falls into the latter category of lazy-arse kids who cannot be bothered to actually play the game in order to acquire the best-gear, and so he went to a private server for this.
The hitch was that this private server (I cannot remember the name, they're all ran on single-servers out of people's garages or something ridiculous like that) had a scheme where you could buy 'Tier 8' (i.e. better than any available gear even in normal retail WoW) gear from their website using PayPal. Basically a cheap and easy way for some douche running a private WoW server to make a quick buck from the people playing there- he would limit the best gear available in the game for paid-purchases only... and this is where my extremely eager and extremely lazy brother enters with a family credit card. About 5 characters, 50 items and 3 months of playing later and he has racked up a rather impressive bill; parents were not impressed, I was unable to keep a straight face and he was literally sick with guilt and worry. Massively lulzy affair for me - private servers are utterly sad enough as it is, seeing my lil' mini-me get into arseloads of trouble over fake pixel-items in a virtual world was comedy gold.
