I climbed up a ladder in havasupai near havasupai falls (grand canyon) more specifically Mooney Falls... Each bar is about 5-6 feet apart, and the vertical parts were about 3.5-4 ft the thing is made out of metal and wood, it's 60 years old, it goes to a slight over hang, aswell as a wooden segment with a single metal bar where your feet and rock make a 50 degree angle... To get to the ladder itself is a 15+ ft freewall climb... No ropes, 240 ft up or so (falls is like 230 and it's higher than the falls...
I did it in danner boots (round toe) and I slipped twice... That shits scary
I'm doing the Grand Canyon in late May next year. I'm doing the Rim-to-Rim thing where you get a permit to go down from one rim, bounce across, then go up the other rim. If anyone has done it, please tell me. The thing that worries me is no fire, little running water. They say that you don't need a tent, just a rain-fly and a blanket. I'm a little wary of going into the Canyon with no tent and bringing my own water. Plus a 5000+ mile hike up to the Rim will take at least 2 days and doesn't sound like a great vacation
