I'm doing the Grand Canyon in late May next year. I'm doing the Rim-to-Rim thing where you get a permit to go down from one rim, bounce across, then go up the other rim. If anyone has done it, please tell me. The thing that worries me is no fire, little running water. They say that you don't need a tent, just a rain-fly and a blanket. I'm a little wary of going into the Canyon with no tent and bringing my own water. Plus a 5000+ mile hike up to the Rim will take at least 2 days and doesn't sound like a great vacation
5000 miles in two days? Stud!
Anyone that tells you you don't need a tent hasn't slept where you are planning on being.
Ya I don't know if I can do that in 2 days
I'm hoping to get one more backpacking trip in before we go though, so maybe by then. Hopefully up Mt Whitney.
I read the tent/no sleeping bag deal on the
NPS website for the Grand Canyon. They also said they rescue a butt-load of people out of there who can't hack it.
