Got a new CPU and RAM, turned on the FPS counter on BF2, and get about 40 while playing 60 while dead...
CPU = AMD 3.1GHz dual core
Ram = 4GB @ 800MHz
With a graphics crap nVidia 7600.
I would have thought the graphics card wouldn't make that much difference, but a friend has 3.0GHz and 4GB of RAM, but with a 512MB nVidia 8600GT. He gets about 190fps if he lets it go unlocked.
Anything to do with inferior RAM speed, graphics cards or wrong drivers?

That graphics card is a budget card from two generations ago, really not suited for any games of today tbh,,,PrivateVendetta wrote:

You can't really call BF2 a game of today..
Maybe you have some spyware or something else running in the back stealing all your ressourcesPrivateVendetta wrote:

You are running all maxed out and he is running with crappy settings. 8600GT gets about 60-80 fps all maxed.PrivateVendetta wrote:

main battle tank karthus medikopter 117 megamegapowershot gg
We're both running the same settings (low) with same resolution. He also used to run a 6600 with his old single core processor with better FPS as well.DeathUnlimited wrote:

Another friend has a 3 year old Dell XPS and he gets better FPS than me. What gives?

I'd say the same... fresh install and if it is still bad then it could be hardware relatedJoshP wrote:

Zomg, not reformat. last resort completely.
Also, I realised i don't even have a 7600, it's a 7300 LE :S
Might try a friends card to see if it helps, i checked the driver for my card which is up-to-date.
Could it be a power issue? I'm not sure how much i should have for my spec, but i sort of assumed it was enough. Will open her up tomorrow or something and have a poke around if needs be.

Nope, and I usually have low ping. Erm.. I would like to avoid taking apart my pc, are there any programs that would tell me the speed and brand?.Sup wrote:

I always have around 40 fps. My ram is 2x:
Code:
DIMM1: Kingston 2G-UDIMM 2 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-18 @ 400 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)
So no-one knows what is fucked on my system?
