Nothing can beat these in price:performance.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I was just looking at the headset my self.  I'm using a cheap $12 headset now myself and after an hour or so it starts hurting my ears.

Sennheiser is a bit overkill. The difference between these phones and ones that cost 5x more is minimal.

They have quite a large range, they don't all cost 5x more.

And to say the difference between Creative and Sennheiser is minimal is the dumbest thing you've ever said.

No seriously. Most creative stuff is shit, but these are really good. I've compared them side-to-side with the Icemats, for example, and beside slightly more bass in the icemats, the difference was pretty slim.

I'm not saying they're bad, because they're in fact a very good headset. My buddy had them, and they were very good for as cheap as they are.

However, I know a lot of people with various Sennheisers and their ability to hear things in game is incredible. They hear things that I have never heard with any headset I've owned.

Keep in mind that you're comparing gaming headsets, made by low budget companies, to near (I'ma say near, cause I don't really know) professional quality music headphones.

Sennheiser has a lot of stuff for <$100 which is very good. In fact, the HD555's and HD280 Pro's are both around $100, though the downfall is you'd have to use a stand alone mic cause they're not headsets (however, they do offer headsets as well).

Jay, if you are in Vienna, you can pick up the Fatality headset in-store. I bought mine at Saturn for €30, so if you don't want to go all the way to the edge of the city to save €3, you can go to Alternate over on Triester Straße.

Icemat Siberia Headphones, I'd swear by them.  I think they go under the brand Steelseries now though (the companies merged).

I second the Fatal1ty ones. Damn good, although I can now notice a sound buzz from the left side when I use mine with max volume.

You could try the Razer one, they have. That looks pretty awesome.

Exactly. Unless you physically break it, Sennheiser will last you a really long time.

My friend's Dad works at Rathein and he said that the best headphones/headsets money can buy are Plantronics.

(Rathien make fighter jets btw, and he's chief engineer.)

I would buy the creative fatality pro headset over the regular one

Mine are almost 2 years old and still work great

I have worn them for 8 hours straight (except bathroom breaks) and they never hurt and sound great
