Okay, so I was trying to resolve a few random BSODs, and was looking around my Display settings, then I come across the Hertz page and realist I can crank the setting to 180 Hertz - my question is, will this actually be my screen refresh rate? I thought they ran at 60, max. And if I do put it to 180, do I risk any effects on my Screen/GPU?

I don't think it will go all the way to 180 hertz if your monitor doesn't actually support it. I think the max average for monitors is about 75 hertz, but that might be like 80 or 85 now.

What monitor do you have?

Average in LCD's is 60Hz, for CRT's it's different. I recommend you just stay at the default for that monitor.

If you put it to 180Hz, one of two things will happen:

1. The monitor goes black and a big box saying "OUT OF RESOLUTION/FREQUENCY" will pop up, or
2. Nothing happens. Screen refresh rate setting has always been bugged in Windows.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Using tv missle macros causes this.
