Well i got to thinking about this while on the crapper. yea i know.

Anyways as you all know there are timezones, and well I was wondering if you lived like beside where the timezone changed what would happen?
Like its 8:00 your house and down the street it would be 9:00? How does it work out? Cause I'm pretty sure the timezones are fixed placed.

That would fuck up your day all the time, but would be a great excuse for being late in class "But I thought it was 8, not 9 "

I'm probably missing something here, it's probably a simple answer too.

In the States (someone from over there can probably confirm this) as far as I'm aware, each state decides what time zone they are in and that time is applied to the whole state, it doesn't matter if you're on the line just what area you fall under. Presume it's the same for everywhere else.

Yeah, when you cross a timezone on an aircraft that don't bother to tell you until you land and they announce the local time so that's when you set your watch.

Otherwise you'd be setting it a lot depending on the flight.  LOL

Posting this from friday 12:41pm btw.

ok but lets say you live on the border of a state, and the next state has a different timezone? problem still not solved!

In 1878, Canadian Sir Sanford Fleming proposed the system of worldwide time zones that we use today. He recommended that the world be divided into twenty-four time zones, each spaced 15 degrees of longitude apart. Since the earth rotates once every 24 hours and there are 360 degrees of longitude, each hour the earth rotates one-twenty-fourth of a circle or 15 degrees of longitude.
Thats how it should still be tbh, but its more divided by generalized areas now like pacific/Eastern Standard time, and china who should be seperated into like 4 or 5 different timezones has only one uniform time-zone.

You don't ever live on the border of a state. There is never a town right on the border. If there is, they still have to choose which state they are politically controlled by, and thus, which timezone they are.

I don't get how Saturday Night Live works for you guys in the states. Wouldn't in be broadcasting during the afternoon if your on the East Coast?

If it's broadcast live from the East, then the West see it in the afternoon. But if it's broadcast delayed for them, then it isn't live.

Makes sense. lol

edit: I meant broadcast from the west coast. See your west coast is east of me and totally closer than your east coast which is west of me.

There's 15 degrees longitude per time zone and each degree is 4 minutes. So technically there's only a 4 minute difference if your neighbour happens to live within 1 degree longitude of you (right on the other side of the time zone).
