So how do I get a key? And can I use the beta forever?

Signed into live, still just redirects me to the windows 7 main page.rdx-fx wrote:
Beta Keys are being handed out now;
Log into your Live profile in one tab, then hit the below links in another tab
64 Bit

32 Bit

Seems like there are only 5 distinct keys for each version?
Let me know if you all get different keys
32 bit key starts with

D9RHV-*****-*****-*****-*****
RFFTV-*****-*****-*****-*****

(Don't worry, none of those keys are going to waste here)

You can use it for up to 4 months by bypassing the activation shiz IIRC. Then just reinstall, a 4 month old windows install can usually do with a reinstall anyway tbhFinray wrote:

Nice. Going at 750KB/s and it'll probably take about an hour.rdx-fx wrote:
Fairly easy to find direct download link:
Official 64-bit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ … EN_DVD.ISO
Official 32-bit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ … EN_DVD.iso
Official Registration/Download pages.. not working properly at the moment
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/eval … 53205.aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window … nload.aspx
Now, if only I could get an official Key for the installation, I'd be set...

Make a new partition. Depending on how much free space you have this may be easy... or not so easy, and you may need another partition manager (the one in vista/w7's installs doesn't let you shrink old partitions to make room for new ones IIRC). Once you've made the new partition, simply install W7 on that (boot from the DVD to install, don't do it through windows). When it's installed you'll get a menu asking you whether you want to boot into W7 or Older Version of Windows (XP). It's pretty easy once you've got the partitions sortedMekstizzle wrote:

I guess the better question is in a few weeks when I get my new hardware will Windows 7 reactivate on the new hardware. I guess i'll let you guys know!
Your product key will work for up to three separate computers, so if you want to install the Windows 7 Beta on another PC, you can re-use the same key.

Holy shit! I never heard about thatTheDonkey wrote:
And has everyone forgotten the that Microsoft pulled off by giving away a copy of Vista Ultimate to anybody that submitted 2 bugs in Vista?
I actually only clicked into the whole "The Beta's out" after RC2 Came out, and I actually DID run it, and played with it, and submitted a bunch of bugs, but apparently it was only valid for Beta 2 :'(
My Vista install has officially crashed(it BSOD's on almost every boot, now mind you, it used to work just fine)Naturn wrote:
If thats the case then I hope they run it again. I'll be getting my copy.
