need help for choosing the right laptop specs

as said in the title i need some help with choosing the right specs for a new laptop that i want.

i already got on currently

specs:
CPU: intel core duo T2300 (1,66 GHz)
RAM: 4gb DDR2 pc2-5300
GPU:geforce go 7600 (i think it's a 254 mb card)

this is the computer that i am looking at:

it needs to be able to run new games in 2-2.5 years (decent in a low setup)

it will be used for games (so the geforce 9600/9650 is what i want (the 1680x1050 res))
for processors it could be any of them as long as it can keep up with the GPU
the harddisk will not be used for any major storage but it needs a proper speed (7200 rpm)
already got a PS3 so i don't think that i need a blueray drive.

so basicly what i am asking is what CPU is should get, and if i should choose the 9600 or the 9650 as my GPU and what CPU is proportional to these cards (no need to go overkill if it aint needed)

Can't you get a desktop? They're so much better, and cheaper, and I can't recommend any laptops because I know jack about them

okay so here's the deal, the computer i'm on right now is a laptop, it's about 2 years and 7 months old and it can run crysis without lag (cept inside the spaceship) on minimum grafics, i do play occasionally and i want it to be able to play the new games (even if on low). saying that a laptop can't last 2 years is bullshit, secondly i'm a student so money is short'ish and i need to bring my computer to school every day, so i could get a very crappy laptop (which i don't want) along with a desktop which will take space out of my room, or i can get a "good" laptop that can do both excel at none. so ignore the stuff about that you would want a desktop and use your knowledge to think of which part will be the bottleneck first, the GPU or the CPU not that hard of a question i'd assume.

i have already decided to get a laptop, but since a lot of the guys in here knows more about it than i do i thought i would bring it up in here.

I do have a macbook pro which works great with games but i just can't use them as gaming platforms, they uncomfy.
Any way, i guess an Asus or an XPS might do the job for you.
