There might be the odd problem with peripherals not having correct drivers on 64 bit (e.g. wireless sticks), but if your peripherals are reasonably new, this shouldn't be a problem.
I've been running 64 bit for over a year now (First XP, then Vista, now 7) and it's worked just fine for me. Most major mfgr's have proper drivers for both so you should be 'ight.Zimmer wrote:

Uhh does Daemon tools do it? Or do I need Alcohol? I also have this funky .exe because I downloaded an unrecognised format and google said that would work, it did, but I digress, it's called PowerIso?
Install it, launch it, "Burn ISO to Disc"
Choose your ISO, "Disc at Once"
Burn
That's how I did it and I am now in 7.
Oooh, CoH will look good in DX10. Will it run well on my computer in DX10? DX9 ran no problem with everything high and 8xAA WITH a GPU folding client running..
About your space requirements: make the partition at least 20GB (bare minimum), if you intend on using it as your main OS, i'd say probably 50 - 100 GB to leave room for programs (assuming you store documents/downloads elsewhere)
I had problems with my Netgear wireless stick with XP 64 - no drivers were available - this means that there won't be any Vista/W7 64 bit drivers for it either, i assume?TheDonkey wrote:

Yes I know it has DX11, but it also has DX10? And are there ANY games out with DX11 compatibility?JoshP wrote:

I have 1x80GB HDD, with 5GB free space.
Time to get uninstalling.

XP64 was a fairly massive fail, it was somewhat obscure, so only the biggest companies made drivers for it,JoshP wrote:

Vista/7 are a little more out there with their x64 versions, so you may have better luck.
Best way to see is to go on the mfgr site now and look it up, if possible, download all the major drivers(networking, video, sound) to a second partition/USB drive/disc.

DX? It's backwards compatible.
Cool, time for ultra high settings on CoH.JoshP wrote:

My brother has UT3 aswell, awesommmme.
I'm on W7 atm, seems to be going pretty smooth
Well.... I looked on the netgear site and it's pretty useless when you're looking for 64 bit driversTheDonkey wrote:

It mentions 64 bit XP and that they don't intend to support it, but says nothing about 64 bit Vista...
Then assume it isn't, but hope it is.
I don't know if i can be bothered to install W7 64 bit just to find out the internet won't work and therefore it's pointless to have itTheDonkey wrote:

I think i'll wait until i'm really bored to try that

Okay, because the D of the smilie was the only alphabetical text in that post, I have to put non-capital letters after it so the emote will work, otherwise it'll make it a small d.

Something that I've noticed for the first time ever with a Windows install is that 7 offers to Upgrade and not nuke completely.
Not sure If I was just running funky locked down versions or something but it's an interesting point.

100%, time to burn.
Vista offered upgrade to me when you stuck the CD in in windowsTheDonkey wrote:

Then again, upgrading is retarded 99% of the time
Not at all. Especially when something goes wrong with your first copy of Vista.JoshP wrote:

What do you mean? Personally if I were to install a new permanent OS, I would dualboot initally to copy settings and such over, and then remove the old OS when i was happy that all the necessary things had been copied over.Zimmer wrote:

An upgrade would most likely give you many strange problems due to compatibility and the different ways that the newer OS handles programs, file structures, etc

I've got 7.7GB of HDD space.. is this enough or do I need to keep on cleaning?
@ Finray, not really, try and get at least 10 GB
it's not that clear, because you didn't explain your situation regarding what you're installing it on, e.g. new system, old system, what you're currently running, etc - why would you install XP if you already have an OS isntalled
