I was including the lens in the price range. I guess I wasn't thinking about having to buy them separate. I'm a noob remember!DonFck wrote:
Canon EOS 40D should fall within your price range and it's much better than those three-digit EOS-Canons.
Remember that lenses cost money too.
In that case I'd say Canon 450D kit. That, or a 1000D kit (which is cheaper and not quite as good, but then you can spend moar on an extra lense).OmniDeath wrote:

Hey, if you can afford a 50D, then go for it! The 40D is what I mentioned, the one you linked to is the kit price (28-135mm included).OmniDeath wrote:
What about this one? Getting a little higher than I would have liked, but it looks Also, would that work well in low light settings?
and is this the one you mentioned donnie? link
No, I prefer Cannon because I actually used to be into film and had a nice video camera that was Cannon, so I'm just partial to them.DonFck wrote:

Thought you preferred Canon because you've got lenses lying around. I myself am currently also looking for a digital SLR camera, a Canon because I've got my old 28-80 and 75-300mm lenses hanging about from my old EOS300 roll o' film cam.
I think I'll end up with a 1000D kit, and then I'll have 3 lenses. The kit is on sale atm for €399.Hey, if you can afford a 50D, then go for it! The 40D is what I mentioned, the one you linked to is the kit price (28-135mm included).OmniDeath wrote:

I want to get a kit now but I could always upgrade to a better lens later.ghettoperson wrote:
If you're buying a camera with a lens, get Nikon, the quality of the lenses they ship with are better than Canon. If you're buying separate, get either, although I'm a Nikon fanboi so I'd still say get Nikon.
Yea, that's what I'm leaning toward so far. Looks like a great camera and I found a kit on newegg that includes a lens for less that what the MSRP of just the body is.
I was actually just looking at one. I have these on my amazon wishlistOmniDeath wrote:

Could you recommend a good memory card/brand? I want to get 8GB + but I don't know which brands are good as I've never heard of most of them.
Are these the same kits?Kmarion wrote:

I'll probably go with the extreme four series even though it's 4gb. The 8gb jumps up to $99 and speed is more important than size to me. The IV is much faster than the III. You'll appreciate it when shooting in camera raw.
Also consider getting a GorrilaPod. It's an easy portable solution for night shots.
Thanks! I think I'm going to go ahead and order it from Amazon then. I may still get the memory and a case from newegg though.Kmarion wrote:
Same lens and Camera. I have spent a lot at Amazon over the last year. I bought most of my home theater stuff through them.
I actually prefer them over most others. Only once have I had a problem with an order, they left out a home theater speaker. I wrote a bad comment before I called and within minutes after writing a bad review they called me..lol. It was fixed right away.
For SLRs I dunno, but for regular P&S's, it makes life easy when you wanna take a picture but DON't want to lug around a 5lb tripod. I'm in highschool, and I actually watched some guys using one to attach a camera to the top of their locker door.OmniDeath wrote:

I lol'd at the GorrilaPod btw. Looks interesting but I already have a regular tripod and don't see much use for it.
It says it's made for SLR's and that it can even support up to 6.6 lbs but I don't think I ever have much use for it.TheDonkey wrote:

Again, I dunno about how well this would work with SLR's because of the size but...
