What are your current specs, I'm asking because, it seems like you're buying some things which you probably won't need. Just trying to save a nigga some money, especially cos you're only like, 14. Where are you getting the money for this from?

The Projector that we helped you win? Which you then sold? Where's my slice of the action, you holding out on me?

not really... they are on par and the OC models of GTX 260 are almost on par with GTX 280
Yes really... They are so close to beeing on par, yet the 4870 costs less and runs slightly faster....
last time I read a review it was win for GTX 260 Core 216 in 5 games and win for 1GB HD 4870 in 4 games... I would call that draw... and price difference is really minimal in Finland and newegg for example.
I can't speak for finland, but here the Core216 is more expensive than a 4870 1gb

The 4870s run cooler aswell with load temps @ ~65 degrees..

gtx 260 stock cooler runs cooler than hd 4870 stock cooler... comparing toxic cooler and nv stock cooler gives some degrees win for the toxic of course but that really doesn't matter with temps less than 90c...

it really is what features and brand you are looking for... ATi themselves stated that HD 4870 can take upto 120c heat long term use and 105c for nVIDIA.
I personally like both but after having first hand issues with minimum fps and drivers on ATis I went to nvidia.

Meh, I have jumped back and forth between both brands since my nub years on a GeForce4
Never had any brand/tech related problems with either...

I used to like Nvidia control panel, but lately it has been useless, Catalyst Control Center works better imho...

I had terrible experience with micro-stuttering, really low minimum fps, flickering screen, crashing, not working AA etc. on ATi and after huge dissappointment with catalyst driver teams tech support I decided its time for me to get back to nvidia.

Shut up, both of you.

The cheapest 4870 1GB is more expensive than the GTX260 c216 I'm getting, and it doesn't fold even nearly as good. Plus, nV cards are right now better than ATI on high resolutions. Being a 1920x1200 guy, that's something I take any day.

@Mek: My current specs can be summarized into one word: Unstable. I paid 30€ for it.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
