I had bootstrap virus, and it caused alot of hell in the last 24 hours.

So, i had to reformat XP. But of course, i can not find my CD key for BF2. I have it for special forces, but not regular.

So here is what is gonna happen.

1.I either find it by 4:00 PM

2.Or i go out and buy a new version
But if i do, will i be able to log into snipedya14? Do you guys know how? Im not starting my whole account over.

3.But, i did a repair install of XP, and the BF2 prgram files are still on my HD. Is there a place (maybe a config file) that i can find my BF2 CD key?
I also have the game install on another machine (that my borther plays) but it is only used for single player and its not connected to the internet. Can i look at hose files? Will that help me at all.

EA has been no help at all.

Thanks

Your CD-Key is held in the registry which with a reinstall is gone. If you buy a new game you can log into your existing account with no problem. That info is held on EA's side not your computer so you're OK there.

If you have it installed on another machine, I believe you can find the CD key in the registry under...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Electronic Arts>EA Games>Battlefield 2>ergc

There is a key in that location with the name "Default".  If you right click on it and select "Modify" it will show you the Key...pretty sure that's it anyway...

Yep...that's it.

It's encrypted now..it's impossible to retrieve your CD Key via registry anymore. You'll have to call up EA and ask them for assistance :\
