I actually push my family to buy pre-built as that way some guy in India can be their tech support when shit doesn't work. I'll help them with little shit but if you build a pc for family you will be called anytime something doesn't work which can get very annoying. And for the pc's my parents/sister need you can't beat the prebuilt prices.baggs wrote:

But really, prebuilt is prebuilt. So what? It's not like he's going to do anything else with it than pay bills and read the news (+ the occasional visit to X-rated sites, after which he forgets to clear the cache, mom is pissed off etc.), right?
And when there's a problem with the shit, you can always prompt him to call helpdesk. It probably comes without admin priviledges too, alongside the "warranty void if removed"-sticker between the cover and the hull of the case.
Dad's prebuilt came with no CDs or anything, no OS cd, so he's taking it back (which is the right choice tbfh).
