I see Best Buy has a 19" Hannspree widescreen monitor Here for $129.99. I was wondering if any of you have any experience with these "Hannspree" monitors?

I can't afford an Samsung that everyone praises. Just want to get feedback on this particular monitor. I like the 3 year warranty that comes with it. Only thing it would be playing would be BF2, and Rfactor.

I just remembered, Circuit City will be closing their stores, anyone know of any killer 19" widescreen deals at Circuit City going on this week? I need to go before their sold out.


Any input appreciated.

The only thing I can tell you is that the contrast ratio sucks my LG flatron has 8000:1

A friend of mine has a Westinghouse 19" widesceen, and I noticed that the contrast ratio on his is, 500:1, and I think it has a fantastic picture. But since I'm still on a 17" CRT, even 500:1 is an improvement? But between my laptop and desktop, it's kinda like stepping back into the stone age, if ya know what I mean, kinda depressing ya know.
I failed to mention in my original post, my system is an ancient P4 @ 3.0, ATI AIW 9800 gpu, 2gb ram. I can only assume that I wouldn't benefit from one of them thar fancy Samsung 19" wide. I'd hate to blow up my AIW. Also I don't plan on replacing my desktop for probably another 2 years, I just want a better picture.

I think I may hit Circuit City later and see if they have any killer deals, Best Buy is just across the street if they don't. 

EDIT: I don't know why I didn't see this last night whilst surfing. Am I better off getting this Samsung compared to the Hannspree. I notice the contrast ratio on the Samsung is only 700:1 compared to the 800:1 for the Hannspree. I take it that I probably wouldn't notice a huge difference betweeen the two?

though i dont see why anyone would want a 19 inch, since 20-22" monitors are so cheap, but have a much higher resolution

Your LG Flatron does not have 8000:1. It's probably around 700.

500:1 is a lot worse than your CRT. It probably has around 20 000:1.

And that Samsung is a better option. When you go with no-name manufacturers, you don't really know what you're paying for.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I was referring to dynamic contrast ratio and yes it does have 8000:1 dynamic. I know dynamic does not matter as much as true but still.

So I went to Circuit City last night and ended up with the Samsung T190 for $179.99 Well, $197.xx,  including tax, title, license, etc.

It was regularly $199.99, Circuit City has 10% off right now, and I decided to go ahead and get it, as they may not have any monitors left when prices drop even more. It's more than I wanted to spend, but I'm happy with my purchase.
