My local comp dealer sold me today:

Athlon 64 X2 5600+
Asus M3A78-CM
OCZ 2 GB Kit 1066

Other specs.
8800 GTS / 7600GT
Maxtor 80 GB HDD IDE
Samsung 120 GB HDD IDE

I build it up, plugged all plugs in.
As soon as I start the comp the monitor stays black and searches for an output.

I tried DVD(Master) / IDE HDD ( SLave)
HDD Master / HDD Slave
HDD Master

My problem is I only got one IDE port on my mainboard.
I need 2 for my 2 HDD's
and another 2 for my DVD ones.

I need some help as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance.

try reseating the graphics card, try using the other DVI connector on the graphics card.

edit: double check cables. remember to put the 6-pin pci-e power connector to the gfx card. Do the fans spin and does the hdd make sounds like it would be booting to OS?

Don't forget to plug in the 4-pin CPU connector as well.

My gfx card got a 4 pin molex power connector.
It doesn't even work with changing the gfx card to my old 7600GT (without any power connectors needed.)

All the fans are spinning, the drives running and the HDD's arestarting to work, like every other day.

I double checked all cables on the mainboard, they're all connected correctly.

Take it back to where you got it from and get them to set it up and show you it running.

From the sound of it, you may want to do that anyway, unless you want to buy some new HDDs (or a plug-in IDE controller card), in order to use your IDE HDDs.

Yep the best is to keep my 120 GB IDE HDD and my DVD drive.
I tried to plug them into the IDE cable, but I had no success.
My screen is always staing black and searching for an output signal.

I changed the GFX card and the monitor aswell.
Still no success

it is possible the mobo's pci-e 16x slot is dead. You should get signal to the monitor without HDDs as well. Have you tried changing the monitor cable?

Yep I changed the cable between VGA / DVI.
Still no signal from my comp.

As you have tried different monitor, monitor cable and graphics card... there isn't much else than motherboard that can be faulty.

Memory and PSU errors can manifest in many funky ways ....

Did you try resetting the BIOS yet? First thing to do

He got another PSU recently as his old pc was acting weird but changing the PSU didn't help.

That must be really funky way if its the ram and still passing the POST check but not able to put signal to monitor.

Try the sticks one at a time and see if it works. and that ^^

wait... now this gets funky... so its not the pci-e slot either...

reset BIOS like max said and if no luck try with one ram stick at a time... try both sticks this way.

Just take it back to the shop!

That's what basic consumer protection laws exist for.

If it was broke when you bought it, take it back.
