There is billions in Football, and a player will make it back for the club by keeping them in the top league (TV Deals), advertising (gives a % to club on contract), ticket sales ("Omgosh Daddy I wanna see one of the best players in the world even though we rarely watch our city team) as well as publicity and winning trophies etc.

Exactly, they get paid so much because of the demand for it. Plus they have to sacrifice almost any chance of getting any academic qualifications because of the age they leave school and the amount of training they put in. The top doctors in the world do get paid shit loads, not as much, because demand for the top brain surgeon is nowhere near as high as the demand for a top footballer. They bring in no crowds, no-one wants to see them work, they dont bring in huge amounts of money through sponsorships and TV deals, they dont increase shirt sale revenues.jord wrote:

No people get paid according to how rare their talent is. How many people in the world can do what kaka does? He entertains millions of common folk who watch him on the tube. Compare that to how many doctors there are in the world, and how many people had the smarts to become doctors but chose not to.
