As an avid coffee drinker at 17, I'm truly disappointed in this thread.
Let's get something straight. Starbucks IS an icon of overpriced, hippie, iMac-notebook skinny jean-wearing douchers. Regardless of whether you want it to be or not.
However. I drink coffee. They sell coffee. I buy coffee. It's also cheaper than the "local" shop (I think it's a small chain), by a fair bit. It's not quite as good but it's more accessible and in far many more locations.
Also, I don't buy the drink-coffee-to-look-cool stereotype. It's something that you mature into as you get older, some people do, some people don't. My mom has made a strong pot of coffee every day of my life, and that smell stuck with me, so naturally I started to drink coffee at quite a young age. It is coincidentally at the age where teens strive for acceptance through their outward appearances.
