I just got awarded vet AT on cleansweep, played the whole round as AT and got 30 kills, but in the BFHQ it hasnt come up, neither has it on here or on bf2tracker.

if you heard the drumroll i bet you got it, i have never had a badge come up short, although i know for a fact that i had at least one rounds stats not register

Sometimes the awards take a considerable amount of time to show up due to the servers which track this stuff having issues. I once had an award take 2 days to show up. All I can tell you is that in my experience they ALWAYS do show up. Just be patient.
EDIT:
One thing that just occurred to me though, there is one case in which a medal would not get attributed and that is if the server you were playing on crashed after you got the award but before the round ended. This happened to me once and I did not get my award.
