It takes hella long time to boot, and the fact is, i just sent in it for repair and it comes back with more problems. Just now it had a virus detected, i am just wondering whether is it the hardware fault or the software fault. Now its hung in desktop. Will a reformat help? My last resort is to go in safe mode and grab everything there and reformat?

ugh... pull the hard drive, hook it up to a desktop, and copy your data... then take that shit back to where you had it repaired and get your money back.

If it is detecting a virus, that is the source of your problems. A virus can do all the things you said you are having problems with.
Damn, i think its something to do with the sch laptop that i had loaned. I loaned it so i could do my work. Now i am scanning all the hard disks in the bootphase mode using avast. Am i doing it right? It deteted a hell load of viruses.

Edit: my safe mode thingy is stuck at Mup.sys. The last thing i saw it was trying to load SPTD.sys.
