ok, here is what happened, i have a 2 month old ipod touch, 2nd gen 8GB.

ok i was getting ready to have a bath, i took my ipod out my pocket and it slipped, falling in the bath, which was about 40CM full of water, i took the ipod out the bath, i pressed the button and it came up with the time and my screen saver wall paper, i thought i got away with it so i just wrapped it in a towel.

i just came out my bath, and tried to use my ipod again, now its not working at all, it doesn't switch on nor charge

now i feel i may have a chance of getting my ipod to work

1.) the ipod was in the bath for no more than 3 seconds.
2.) my ipod has a case on, so less water would have gotten through it, it also has a screen protector sticker, thus  the reason it may have worked when i took it out the bath

anyone been in a similar problem???

anyone know if it can be repaired, or have links to tips on getting it to work???

thanks

Take it apart the best you can (I don't know how easy that is with the new ones - Google it) and leave it on a radiator for a few days. Should sort it out.

Well the last thing u should have done was press a button/turn it on. u can try just letting it air dry for a day or two. but id say ur pretty much fucked.

anyway let it dry etc. then take it back and say it just died

how do you take it apart??

Water is surprising not that bad for electronics unless there is electricity flowing through the circuits.
The only way there might have a problem is if there was an electric current when the water hit the contacts, which there wasn't

Don't describe any kind of situation. Just say that it wouldn't turn on.

I think this thread needs more punctuation.

Turning on a device that's soaked in water is just stupid. No wonder it's fucked.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

just had a chat with someone from apple, they say you can go in store to repair, the KCRS would be an option.

so i will try the goddamn thing for a few days in rice and take it

You have just explained why it was an incredibly bad idea to turn it on or press any buttons after dropping it.

You could try leaving it in some raw rice for a few days.

Use your head.

"Hm. Does water break electronics because it A: Somehow gains acidic properties and eats them? Or B: It is conductive and makes electricity go where it isn't supposed to?"

If there isn't any electricity there, your electronics aren't gonna break.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
The answer is B btw.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Bowl of rice, leave it thar for a day. Put it on the radiator or just at room temperature for a few days. Leave it there and try it again in a few days. Should work fine.

Oh and next time: DON'T TRY TO SWITCH IT ON! As many have already told you in this thread.

Oh and I wouldn't take it apart, even if you knew how to, because if it doesnt work anymore, Apple will probably go gay on you and tell you, you shouldn't have taken it apart.

Do not take it apart. Just get it changed out for warranty if it stops working in a few days. Next time, pay attention.

I ran my old iPod nano through through the washer and dryer, worked like a charm after I left it alone for a few days.  (It's a miracle the battery didn't overheat or something)

...and then two months later the screen cracked after somebody stepped on it. (Yeah, don't put your iPod on the floor, it's a long story, if I told you it'd make sense, but I'd rather not waste your time)  Now I have a Zune, no damages for the past month.

Insert the iPod into your rectal cavity, and leave it there for three days.  After, wipe clean with your terrorist beard or turban.

You'll be listening to al Jazeera podcasts in no time.
