BF2S Forums Why cheat?

well first off thats nice u dont like cheating, which I agree with u, second off all, ppl do it because u can achieve twice as many points(much more  then twice as much, like 10 times as much seen ppl can stat padd over 1000 in one game)anyhow by stat padding then by playing regular way, also some ppl do it if they are too far away from next rank and they get tired of waiting on the next rank by doing the same way of achieving the process so they stat padd or hack to boost their global points........to get to the next rank and they feel if they are not gonna get cought might as well do it...

i pretty much feel the same way as the OP...i have heard all the reasons why but still don't get it...

I know that i get frustrated sumtimes when i am far away from a rank I.E next upgrade, but thats the fun of it, the challenge, but we live in an age of impatientness. most statpadders do not appreciate the challenge, all they want is the shortlived "hey look, im at 100,000 in 2 months, rnt i kool???" then it dies down. i totally agree /w u Killaer

All my badges except two scared the living crap out of me! it pops up and says crap in your earphones and I wonder what the hell it is and by that time I am counting down from 15.

I don't try for medals, ribbons or stars except the knife and pistol because I was wondering what all the hoopla was about killing 7 people with it, pretty easy if you ask me.

It would be nice addition to my mantle though if they were real.

Oh and by the way someone kept shooting me like twice and kept healing me, then when I asked what the hell, he said thanks for the Expert in Medic... oooookkkkkaaaayyy..

I've thought long and hard about this, but it came down to this. Why do we have so much fun in BF2? It's because we get to kill people. Killing people is fun, no matter what those bloody fundamentalists would have you believe, (or un-fundamentalists, har har, good one Ty.)

Cheating simply makes sure you get to kill people more often whilst dying less often. Basicly, it's a retreat for the selfish or untalented who want to have the maximum fun they can have without giving a shit about anyone else. This of course, makes them undesirable people, bu they don't care. I don't think it's about awards or points, because as you said killaer, when it gets down to it, who really cares about imaginary numbers or graphics.

Its a fast food society , the kids today want instant gratification, they dont wanna wait.

I could half ass understand stat padding, I would never do it, but if people want that shiney new medal fast fuck go for it I don't care.

What I will never understand is all ot cheating/hacking in a multi-player game. Hell I cheat in some singleplayer games all the time, I don't have any excitment on the next encounter etc, since most AI are really stupid. Yet in a multiplayer game where you are set up against the best, random AI humans I don't understand cheating. Hell its a thrill knowing that when I turn that corner I could take a 120mm t-90 shell to the face and almost jump out of my chair.

Now walk around the corner and take out the tank with my knife because I hacked the client. I really can't answer your question, because once you can go immune it takes the thrill out of the game. Stats and numbers and kills and deaths doesn't me jack shit to me. Hell my k/d is absolutly horrible, mainly because I go around doing stupid shit that ussually gets me blown to hell....alot but its fun. Hell one of the times I had the most fun was in a squad of friends on teamspeak, we where on a Ghost Town and man some of us accually got purple hearts, we where doing awful, but it was so fuckin funny that it was a blast. If I was cheating or hiding in a concrete wall or some other goofey shit like that I would never of had that experiance, thus why even play the game.

If you have no goals to strive for(stat padding) or do not get the thrill of being able to die(hacking) then whats the point of playing the game on multiplayer? Shit I just answered you with a rant and then a question, no help here! =p

Cheating is bad........so dont do it.. and i will tell you several reasons why

1. Obvious. Ruins the game for legitamate players like myself. Example: CounterStroke SOurce went from a good game to a crappy game due to cheaters faster than bullets fired from a PKM.

2. You wont learn how to play the game correctly. Tell a cheater to play legit for a few days and you will see him get his ass handed to him

3. I know medals, ribbons, and badges look nice.. the true reward playing BF2 is to have fun.. why kill yourself cheating for a bunch of fake badges.. ( OOOOOOO.... wow i got a crap load of gold awards and i stat pad) No one gives a crap how many awards you do. Tell me.... will those awards give you a good job, or a degree

4. You cheat and after a few weeks ..you managed to get every stinkin award.. what next.. you wont have any desire to play the game.. you spend $50+ dollars on 5 week joyride. Me i have been playing this game since June 2005. and i still have fun for the most part.

5. you cheat and what happens... EA/DICE is going to spend lots of money trying to develop blocks for cheats rather than making the game better. again loosing the fun

6. In addition. I know that Blizzard Entertainment has O (zero) tolerance for cheating, hacks, padding , etc. They close down several thousands of accounts due to exploits. ( Way to go blizzard).. You cheat in blizzards game... kiss your ass goodbye. Period.

7. You cheat in a college , professional school.. They will kick you out.. No  questions asked.


I ve seen cheats myself.. I was in karkland where i saw this guy named i believe "TopGun".. He had 150 kills and 2 deaths.. hmmm. Then several weeks ago i read some articles about teamgod.net and hackers such as GODJOEY, GODKEVIN.... Joey got reported by EA so his hacking days are over.. I hope those guys in teamgod.net get what they deserve, because they are ruining it for a lot of people... its sad that people want things instant and have to cheat.. Like someone said in this thread... this is a non-fair "instant society"

The generals ranks requires that you have a whole shitload of gold badges so...naturally, this created even more stat padders who want their virtual ego boosts. How many people at 160K points are just going to hog up vehicles the whole map without doing anything with them (for hours, rather than points) just to get the prereqs for the precious badges? There is very little integrity left in the world. Cheating is the eventual convergence of capitalism. People who cheat get ahead faster. It is the name of the game in politics and big business. People cheat their way through school, college, jobs and those people usually get ahead. Naturally it will exist in an online game as well.

There is one factor to consider here. Reputation. Most people who cheat have bad reputation. They have no pride so they dont care if their reputation is bad. They are willing to sacrifice reputation for success. It all boils down to pride. If you have it, you probably maintain integrity in your life and you have a good reputation. If you have no pride, then I feel sorry for you.
