This is a tech/BF2 problem so I am posting in here. I just re-installed the game after a couple months and installed the patch. When I click on the desktop icon to load the game my screen goes black for 2 seconds then goes right back to desktop like nothing happened. Thats my problem.
Post your full system specs, please. Including screen and peripherals.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Run as administrator?
Ok well so far I have tried running it as administrator then I right clicked the desktop icon and went to compatability for windows xp, didnt work. So I am going to delete some movies and run a defrag and see if that helps. Thanks for the quick replies.
Also try to run bf2.exe straight from the bf2 dir without shotcuts. Sometimes the shortcuts gets fucked....
I remember someone else having this problem. I think it had something to do with the monitor's resolution or refresh rate conflicting with the game's default setting. You can try setting refresh rate and resolution in the .cfg file.
Defaut should be 60Hz btw.SpIk3y wrote:

was just gonna say that its the patch thats screwing it all up. I unistalled everything then reinstalled BF2 and ran the game, everything was fine. Once the patch was installed it started doing the black srcreen then desktop thing again.jamiet757 wrote:

I the patch I downloaded is 1.41 from filefront.com
So I guess I am basically screwed.
I think it has something to do with the shortcut. Try Sup's idea, or Google the resolution code to put into the BF2.exe's properties...
Just tried that and nothing..Sup wrote:
Delete the desktop shortcut and make a new one from C:\ program files
This kinda sucks.
Ya. I unistalled everything, then reinstalled bf2 and the patch (about 4 times now) still nothing. did what you said about the desktop shortcuts, still nothing..Sup wrote:

So now I am going to download the patch from another source and see what happens.
Delete BF2 folder in my documents. If you uninstall the game that doesn't mean the folder there will be deleted and crucial video settings data for the game is stored there.trex1210 wrote:
