More bush chickens coming home to roost.

It's all about pressure and the military approach, said Kim Ruocco, 45, whose Marine husband was an officer and Cobra helicopter pilot who hanged himself in a California hotel room in 2005. That was one month before he was to return to Iraq a second time.
It's also about a bogus mission that helped bankrupt our country.

I'll take a stab at it. The money spent in Iraq could have been better spent here where it's needed in the U.S. and the huge amount of soldiers who died out there or came back with PTSD could have been productive here.

It's a shame that the soliders are under so much pressure when they return home. I think they really do need better access to psychiatric help. Although I'm sure the sane guys would hate compulsory checkups, it might be needed to prevent these deaths and make sure the welfare of the troops is always top priority. Even for the returned vets.

So they join the army and kill themselves rather than look for a job.

PTSD is a joke and is not something you can use statistically. I would say less than 5% of those who claim they have it actually have it. PTSD is the "my neck hurts" from a fender bender. I know guys getting paid a few hundred bucks a month just by saying they have PTSD. Thats a free car payment for the rest of your life.

Actually marine I remember reading the complete opposite, where the US Military was relaxing their rules on weight/fitness to get more people in.

That tends to happen when people need work badly.  I don't mean that as a slight either...  in terms of benefits, the military does provide much better perks than most other entry-level jobs.

As long as you survive your tour of duty, you can take advantage of a lot of programs.
