Formatting the hard drive now. Only doing a 500,000MB partition to start with. I'll leave the other unformatted in case I want to install another OS or at least until I need the space. Next step putting on the fan. Any advice on that?

Open case, take out mobo, remove old fan.
Place motherboard on lap, place HSF over processor. Align the plugs with the holes, place HSF on processor. My HSF came with paste, check if it has that.
Push pins down into motherboard.
Put mobo back in computer
???
Profit
In a nutshell.
The way my case is I can do it without removing the mobo. When you just say "remove old fan" is that just pull it till it comes off?Finray wrote:

And it hasn't come with paste. Is that a problem?
stock intel coolers pops off when u turn the push pins with screw driver. Make sure to clean the CPU well of the old paste.
edit: afaik the f7p should come with paste... it's pre-applied on the base.

booze goes fine if you have nothing else. The intel stock paste is not very hard to remove.

I personally invested on a arctic clean kit and it works wonders.... much faster and effective than alcohol.

How fast would you expect to move files from one HD to another?
35MB/s about right?
What would be better, white spirit or gin?

Went up to about 48 after the 3Dmark CPU tests. Is this normal /good / bad?
38c idle is perfect, 48 load is great. Just don't let it get over 65.Peter wrote:

It should only be loud on load, unless you've put it on 100% in the bios, and not auto.
umm, what's ethyl? i know rubbing is at like 74%, and isopropyl is 91%. i have a bottle of isopropyl next to me. <3Gooners wrote:
