Jesus fucking christ. You guys are retarded.

I use (left hand ofc):
Pinky - Bottom third closest to your hand for ctrl
Ring - A, shitft, Q, tab, z
Middle - W, S, 1,2,3 (I dont use numbers often), Esc
Index - D,E,R,F,X,C,V,T etc anything that isnt space or on the other side of the hand
Thumb - Spacebar, but I dont jump around like a massive faggot.

Holy shit, you actually made me rage a bit.

I need a girlfriend.


Edit: After playing around a bit, I may use pinky and ring for shift if I feel retarded.

I cannot reach the CTRL confortably. Another thing is I've been gaming so long now I know where every key is and I can type fast without looking at my keyboard.

Right so my setup. I have my middle finger on "W" and will go down for "S", my ring finger on "A" and goes up for "Q", my index finger on "D" and can easily confortabbly acces "E", "F" for in most games is a "USE" botton, "G" for grenades and most importantly "R" for reload.

Now here's where it's a great setup, I use my left hand's thumb to hit "SPACE" which is jump in  most games, now instread of CTRL for crouch, my thumb will use "V" for prone, "C" for crouch, and in some games "X" to stand back up again. I can also easily touch "B", "N" and "M",

I also use my index for the 1-0 keys.

Oh and I have a Swiss-French keyboard, not frencg, Swiss-French, there's a big difference. I don't have a QWERTY keyboard, mine spells QWEERTZ, the "Y" and "Z" are switched. Also the accents and ! , . - and stuff are in different places.

EDIT: BTw you want your setup to be a very comfortable position or you will get nasty cramps, thank God I don't use the default keys anymore...

Mine is likely weirder. I use the arrow keys (to the left of the numeric keypad), rShift for 2ndary fire, rCTRL for crouch, "/" for prone, INS (on the numeric keypad) for entering/exiting vehicles.

That setup reminds me of the original Rainbow Six game.

For typing, you rest on asdf and jkl;. Index fingers on F and J because that's where the bumps are so you can find your way around without looking (i.e. touchtyping). This is proven to be the fastest method of typing. Hence, why all Euro/USA keyboards are set out like this.

To try and use this in games, however, is somewhat futile. You cannot move your finger from E to D quicker than you can move your pointing finger. Because it is used less, it has less dexterity. Also, when you press D with your index, it is more squished, making it harder to hit the key accurately. You don't need a finger on F all the time, as it is one of the least used keys in any game. For CoD4 you only use it when picking up another gun, and that is rare. You do, however, need a finger on Shift, which is the pinky. You'll be running 80% of the time. And from shift to ctrl it's just an easy step down, but again you don't need to hit it much because who lies down most of the time? From D to C is a simple step for your index finger, again which it doesn't need to do much, because it's crouching. And who crouches when you'll be running 80% of the time. Thumb rests on space, but I think that's pretty universal. Ring finger on A for strafing and a quick hop to Tab to check the scores. Which doesn't happen often, usually only when you're dead. I find with OPs setup when I place my pinky on Ctrl then my ring finger comes off A.

I used to play BF2 with a guy who used his arrow keys to move, 0 for jump, control for crouch and a mouse button for prone, with all his number keys as weapons etc. Thats just fucking weird imo. Almost as weird as the op

lol. I don't game anymore, but when I did yeah - that was what I did. I tried the whole IJKL setup but never got used to it. Just another crazy lefty.

That's pretty much all I need.

This, though I think I might use Ring for Caps, not sure.

I use the usual WASD setup but I use Z for crouch and C prone.  In games like BF2, I use the control key for crouch and hold it down.
