I got BF2 for my birthday Feb 1st and have actually gotten pretty good, pretty quick. I have a bunch of friends from Socom that play it who helped. But I was wondering - Do I really have to unlock all the first tier weapons before I can get to the second? I play sniper/medic mostly and the G36 and L96 are just so much better. Please tell me it's not true because 4 more ranks will take FOREVER!
if you have sf you get 2 unlocks for every rank, helps make it not so tedious cept for the last push to smajor.
p.s. you just have to unlock the weapon above the teir 2 weapon you want , you dont have to get all tier 1 first.

if u want the L96 and the Gr6 u need Special Forces, if u dont, too bad.
And if u do have SF, yes u need to unlock the M95 BEFORE eve being abble to unlock the L96, this is good for any other kit.
