Right it takes two stingers to take down a chopper or a plane, yes?
It takes One Anti-Tank Missile to take out a Humvey, yes ?
It takes ruffly two - three Anti-Tank missiles to take out a chipper, yes?

right so you would say that two AA misiles cause slightly more damage than the Anti-Tank?

so why was it that in my bordom whilst sitting in a stinger the other day, it took 8 missiles to take out the parked Humvey sitting next to me? Direct hits aswell.

i dont get it? am i missing something?

was it empty? i dont know if this has been discussed before but it seems to take significantly more hits to take out empty vehicles, also AA seems to do almost no damage to ground vehicles

because stingers are designed to damage choppers / planes....not cars!

If I'm sitting next to a Stinger/IGLA and a tank rolls up, I'll take the shots coz I know it'll do SOME damage, nowhere near as powerful as a TOW/HJ-8 but it still helps especially if you're a non-tank-killing class!

Jets and helis have little to no armor. Heck, the DPV is more armored.

yeah i understand that the stingers are designed to take out aircraft and not cars, but it just doesnt add up that two Anti-tank missiles will do almost the same damage to a heli or plane as the stinger misiles do, but yet the stinger does not do the same damage to a car as the anti-tank misles do?

i mean i am not going to jump into a stinger when some enemy soldier is shooting at me from a humvey, but it is just strange that the damage systems do not work the same with the different vehicles.

maybe it is something to do with the vehicle being empty though.

damage in this game isn't just a number. it also takes into account what type of weapon you're shooting and what kind of armor the target is equipped with.

in short, stingers are designed to take out aerial targets where tows, eryx(es?) and sraws are intended for ground targets.

your problem with stingers not doing damage to cars i think is due to the armor the car has. stingers aren't armor penetrating (since they don't have to be because helos and jets have little to no armor)...AT missiles are armor penetrating.

m8 the game isnt based on simple hitpoints and armour points, there are all sorts of multipliers, dividers, and all sorts of other bits that alter what different weapons do to different objects, check out all the code!

it does take out a plane easier.

one shot from an AT rocket will destroy a plane.

also, armor penetrating doesnt necessarily mean more damage.
