Good for Blink 182 though, musically uninitiated teen girls the world over just gained another gateway-band.
When I was a "musically uninitiated teen girl" Blink 182 were a really helpful band. At the risk of sounding "emo" or "scene" there was a lot of meaning in their music. "Stay together for the kids" helped me through my mum and dad breaking up. There are plenty other songs by this band that are meaningful, not least Mark Hoppus being an idol of mine. He was the main inspiration in me picking up a bass guitar and not looking back.Uzique wrote:

Boohoo, good for you. Beethoven got me through my dog dying, what's your fucking point? Everyone derives and takes what they want from music- it's kinda irrelevant what the actual band represent or write about. It's like saying Britney Spears is a deep and talented songwriter because one of her songs about a ex-boyfriend echoed your own relationship. It's not good music, it's you overly bestowing fondness/sentiment/nostalgia on someone elses shittiness. Blink 182 are a good band and I enjoyed them years ago as well... but only on face value. Easy going up-beat pop-punk/rock, some funny songs, some good party-time sing-alongs... on a musical basis, and on any level of seriousness, utter wank.SirSchloppy wrote:

So before you and other people bash on about how "Blink 182 are just all filler 4 different power chords same rhythm in all their songs blablabla pop-punk sux", I appreciate your opinion, but at the end of the day, they're not a bad band, and they made a shit load of money, without exploiting the marker like the "bands" of today. Yes Mcfly, Busted, anyxfactorcontestant, I'm looking at you.
oops.

Freezer you are a leet audiophile if you've never heard of Blink 182. Where did you spend the last 10 years?
Online Source: In the papers, Barker's lawyer alleges the former Blink-182 drummer "was hurt and injured in his health, strength and activity, sustaining injuries to his body and shock and injury to his nervous system" in the plane crash, causing Barker "great physical, mental and nervous pain and suffering." The papers also allege Barker has been told his injuries will "result in permanent disability."
