So I just found my old SP with Tetris DX in it (Fuck yeah.) and I E-bayed a charger for it

I just plugged the charger in the wall, and then into the gameboy, and the red charging light comes on for a half second, and I just left it for like 10 minutes and it wont turn on (so its not charging)

Now because the device hasnt been turned on in YEARS... would the problem be in the battery, the gameboy itself (doubt it) or a faulty, POS charger?

I just unscrewed the back plate, it's a small cell phone type 3.6v battery...

Ideas?

Pinball was the shit.

I remember having that transfer cord and we would pull the cord so we could copy our high level pokemon (this is in like 2nd grade)

It's probably the battery. The control circuitry has probably drained it over time, and has cut off due to low voltage. If the voltage drops under 2.5V in the battery, it can blow up when charged. Take it to a Nintend store and get it replaced.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Do you have a multimeter?

Check the charger for proper output.

Depending on the store, that could come with an unreasonable fee. Since it's just a GBA, he could probably order the battery from Amazon and, failing that, replace it with a (USD, mind) $40 GBA or $100 DS Lite. Granted, GBA cartridges stick out a bit, but it's a way better screen.

This.  Batteries for the SP are around $8, some video game shops(Game Stop, etc) will carry them in store.  The SP uses the same batteries as the regular DS, as well as the same charger.  The batteries are fragile to electrical charges, trust me.  I blew the battery on my SP trying to make a battery powered charger for it.  The charger did work, but the heat built up on the chip I had in the circuit, a fried itself, which in turned fried the battery.  In all fairness the chip was brand new from 1980

But I also have my DS   So wasn't a huge issue to me.
