i just bought special forces yesterday, and the grappling hook is so great...i'm amazed at how fun it is to climb up stuff with it.

i also like the tear gas. i think it adds a cool element of tactics to the game, and same goes for flashbangs.

i haven't tried the zip line yet.

it seems a little weird that assault, the close range armored combat class, gets the grapple, but i'm not complaining. i just love using it.

now that i've played SF, it's sad to go back to regular BF2 and not have any grapple or anything...which brings me to my point:

i think that the grapple and the other special forces exclusive items add so much to the game that they shouldn't be confined to the expansion.

i'm sure people would still buy SF even if they could already use the grapple, etc. in BF2, they would still want the maps from SF and the ability to unlock the SF guns in BF2.

i would really like to see the grapple, zip line, tear gas, flashbang, and anything else i'm forgetting added to BF2, unlocked from the start.

like i said, it seems a little weird that assault has the grapple, so maybe the certain classes that have the certain items could change a little.

it's all just sooooo fun for me, and it adds another level to an already great game.

edit: what do you guys think about this, any specific feedback?

the flashbang is already in regular BF2 as a unlock but i would like to be able to use zipline for special forces, grapple for SNIPER, and teargas for support

I'm voting no. There are times when I am willing to go play ninja on SF, and other times when I just want to play plain-old vanilla BF2 without watching noobs spam grappling hooks for badges.

Ha that was fun. I did it just for the award. One guy followed me around jumping on my zipline as I went around the map. Then when he was on it once I got the award an enemy sniper pulled the zipline away....that was funny. I saw him fall and die...heh...then I shot the enemy sniper

No. I personally feel it's lame enough the SF guns can be used in BF2 vanilla. I already don't like the fact that people can buy an exansion for better guns. Play SF if you want SF stuff. I want BF2.

imagine the tear gas at the karkand hotel... now that would be some low fps

The guns really aren't that much better if at all of the originals, I would have liked to see everything in vanilla minus the flashbangs , but not at the amount of time & work it would take to put all of this into the old levels, not to mention all the new bugs this would open up.

There are a couple of boards I wouldn't mind seeing the Grapple and the Zip line on (Karkland and Sharqi). But to use them in plain BF2, they should be unlocks like the flash bang.

I'd like to see teargas in the original, but definately not the grappling hooks and ziplines, because it would just be stupid.  Some maps (like Karkand) would just be full of players spamming those things all over the place.  But teargas would be interesting.

Actually, you don't. I actually forced Karkand to work on SF, replacing USMC with the Navy SEALs and the MEC with MEC SF. If you know where to throw grapple hooks, you can go inside buildings, like the old Karkand exploit. But bypassing that, it's pretty fun.

As long as they were seperate maps, eg "Strike at Karkand SF", so you knew what you were joining, then yes. And yes, as stated above, they're not designed for grapples and would need a lot of tweaking.
