This. GPU has just fried, and I need a new one ASAP. Good idea? I can barely read things on here, so it's up to you lot to make sure I get the right part. Think if I get next day delivery I'll get it by tomorrow?
your budget sir? if its £200 than that is a fine choice sir.

Excellent. I just ordered it in the hope that they'll process it before closing today and I'll get it tomorrow. Yeah, budget was about 200 pounds. Hopefully it'll last me longer than this X1950 has. For refernce, this is what I'm looking at right now:
yeah I would say ur card is FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUghettoperson wrote:

It was even worse when I had my graphics drivers enabled. Imagine that, but flashing...

have you made sure it's not the monitor?
(say by plugging it into a different PC, or plugging a different monitor into your PC)
(though, it does look like it's most likely the GPU)

Related to OP's graphics card:
How does that 260 match up to an 8800GTX? I'm looking to get rid of my 88000GTX SLI because of power-consumption (sounds silly, I know, but I'm tired of having to turn my computer off to use other electronics in my power-limited Uni room). I genuinely have no idea how these new 200-series cards match-up performance wise to the old 8800's.

8800GTX stacks up in between the HD4830 and 9800GTX. A bit closer to 9800GTX than HD4830.

IIRC, a single GTX260 is slightly less powerful than 2x8800GTX in SLI, but not by much.
Positive. The graphics driver kept crashing as well.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

Single 260GTX would be a little stepback from 8800GTX SLI, but not huge.Uzique wrote:

Certainly sounds like it's the GPU then.ghettoperson wrote:

It started off and on at first, but it's suddenly started happening permanently. BTW, when I bring up the monitor menu it shows over the top of the artefacts. I thought that was pretty conclusive so I ordered it. Let's hope I was right.
Yeah, again that is very suggestive that it is indeed the GPU...ghettoperson wrote:

I dunno but there is absolutely nothing very interesting going on with hardware world atm... I keep looking for some new gfx/cooling/stuff but... nothing... apart from one lol ass try I have going on to make some profit with P5E3 WS PRO mobo... if I was still on S775 I would already be on water cooling etc.

after getting that I have been bored to death. Don't get me wrong, its like joy to use but.... the fact there won't be anything better for almost a year scares the crap out of me as I'm used to switching hardware all the time. No good deals going on atm and that makes panzer sadScorpion0x17 wrote:

I'm going to Dubai for a week and to Phuket for a week this year too.
Atm I got the money to buy damn awsome hardware but nothing exceptionally good to get. 40% extra performance over my 8800GTX for double the money etc. kinda crap only would piss me off after having GTX 295s performance once.

I feel the same. Nothing interesting until Westmere and GT300
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
