OK, here is Hirens Boot CD menu. Should I try one of these partition tools:

Or, one of these disk tools:

That active kill disk sounds like it might be handly! hmmmm?

try some of the partition managers... what you want to do is remove all existing partitions and format the disk

edit: clean start. Just like you just got the HDD unformatted and unpartitioned... and give it a go.

THis is Active Kill Disk showing the 320 gig and ALL it's partitions. This is the ACTIVE partion:

And the partition I just made says it is NOT active:

I'm gonna go ahead and wipe all this shit, and repartition it. Hopefully it'll work, wish me luck

If you can't clean it up with Killdisc, it's probably a bad drive.

Well, I just got home and killdisc did its job....Acronis doesn't even recognize it!! I'm using Acronis recovery expert to look for deleted partitions i guess? Or maybe I should try and boot into windows first?

just wipe all partitions for good, start windows installer, use its built in partition tool, format with the installer...

or waht do you mean by booting to Windows? Do you have OS drive there?

Good news! It worked! Kill disk is my new favorite utility!

I had the 320gig as a secondary, and my 640gig as the primary with XP on it. I booted into windows safely. I went to disk management, and the secondary drive showed up as one big unallocated disk! Great! So, when I get a chance, I will go upstairs and install it into my Dads computer for him.

I'll post back with the results. Thanks for ya'lls help.

Sometimes:

If you have OS on old HDD and it doesn't boot to Windows after you plug in the other HDD, its because mobo tries to boot from the prioritized SATA connector. Switch the cables between the two HDDs. Or just try to plug the old HDD is SATA 1 connector.

good to hear you got it working. Had to do ^ myself on many PCs when adding HDDs.

Or just change the HDD priority in BIOS.
