NB, this thread is not to discuss or debate the use of torrents, illegal or otherwise. Merely which torrent hosting sites are best/effective

Is buying a subscription to a torrent hosting site like TBP or giganews etc worth it? I heard that it drastically increases speeds which is what I want, so sick of 10kb/s unless a good seeder decides to share. Any to recommend, was looking at TBP and it seems broken for some reason. Giganews is another..which one? Suggestions?

I'm pretty sure most private ones are by invite only and not necessary payment - like x264, hdbits, waffles, what.cd, etc

All you need for anything, best private torrent trackers for music, full-stop. Premium User on both, absolutely love them, use it daily.

I use Demonoid (barely private, average quality) and Torrentech (private, dedicated to electronica) when I'm looking for niché or ultra-rare things.

I said Demonoid in my post, about 3 scrolls away from yours. "Fuck".

And Demonoid only gets a passing comment because it is pretty much fail, their invite-policies are a joke and as such the tracker gets just as spammed with cheap-snatchers and no-seeders.

Also, I don't know why a RS Premium account is 'faster' than torrents. Are you kidding? A well-maintained private torrent community such as Waffles/What.cd has the best index of music-albums available, all at premium-quality; random RS .rar's and .zip's are sketchy low-quality rips. I'll take my free invite-based torrent community any day.

However, i haven't gotten this yet, so I use usenet... They have a pretty good selection of HQ music, but not even close to what I'd like. Also, usenet is fucking awesome for 720p/1080p x264 movies

Invites to Waffles.fm/What.cd swing around about once every 3-4 months, typically lasts about 2-3 days, and only the top-profile/bigtime uploaders get the privilege of giving away an invite. Nowadays Waffles has an awesome points system though (you earn points by basically downloading/uploading/posting on forums/being a good community member) and you can purchase a one-time invite for 'x' number of these points. It's a pretty high and exclusive number though... so again, only the high-profile and actually contributing members get the opportunity to use it.

In short: Good luck, unless you know a real active don on the inside, you'll never get an invite .
