Looks interesting if that really is it.

What you think it is? just something natural, Atlantis or maybe error in google ocean?

THIS is the amazing image which could show the fabled sunken city of Atlantis.

It shows a perfect rectangle the size of Wales lying on the bed of the Atlantic Ocean nearly 3½ miles down.
A host of criss-crossing lines, looking like a map of a vast metropolis, are enclosed by the boundary.

They seem too vast and organised to be caused naturally.
And last night the possibility of an extraordinary discovery had oceanographers and geophysicists captivated.

The site lies 620 miles off the west coast of Africa near the Canary Islands — a location for Atlantis seemingly suggested by the ancient philosopher Plato.
Someone with the new google earth go check if you can find it.

I'm glad Wales exists for one reason and one reason only. It gives us something to compare sizes to geographically.
Everything is always "the size of Wales" or "twice the size of Wales", how would we say how big stuff is without Wales!?!

I found it. That'd be really cool if it was real. If it's the size of Wales it seems pretty unlikely it's an ancient city though.

Impossible to excavate it successfully at the moment which is a real shame. So many mysterious still surround the city.

Here it be. There seems to be more similar but vague squares to the east. This is interesting. Hope they'll be able to send subs to investigate further there.

...or it's just Google playing a trick on us.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Why can't we go down there and check it out?   Also what do you guys think about the Atlantis story? I really wish it's true. I read the Bible (doesn't mean I respect every passage) I think people before the Great Flood were a highly advanced civilisation and I'd like to find some more cities and things like that.

They probably will.

Assuming it's at reachable depth.

Unmanned U-boots then. Pretty damn dark there so I assume the picture quality will be quite shitty too

If there was a city or town swallowed by the melting icecaps (which I guarantee there were many) it surely wouldn't be so far down. The sea level rose only by a few hundred meters as far I know.

''In this case, what users are seeing is an artifact of the data collection process. Bathymetric (or sea-floor terrain) data is often collected from boats using sonar to take measurements of the sea-floor...The lines reflect the path of the boat as it gathers the data. The fact that there are blank spots between each of these lines is a sign of how little we really know about the world's oceans.''
