Wich one should i get? (VGA)

Hello to everyone!

Im in a total dilemma and i dont know what to do. I thought lets update a little bit and as i dont want to spend huge money on my PC i get only +1 GB of ram (GEIL DDR 400) and a new VGA. Here i list the two cards what are in race.

1. SAPPHIRE HD4830 512 MB PCIE VGA

2. NVIDIA XFX 9600GT XXX ALPHA DOG

Well my friend said that i should get the first one, but somehow i had allways nvidia cards so i prefer the 2nd one. The only problem is that i visited 3 pc shops yesterday and everywhere they said its outdated and its hardly to get it as they dont produce it anymore. And its total stupid that they ask so much money for that card.
The good stuff is that they give COD4 to it It would be better to get the Shapphire then the Xfx.

Any personal ideas or experiances?

Personally i'd go for the 4830. its newer tech. and in every benchmark i've seen it beats the 9600 (or they perform very similarly).

but thats just my opinion. neither are top of the line cards... but they're both decent budget cards.

Well my specs are this:
MSI K8N Neo 4 with AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and right now i have 2x Kingston 512 MB 400 Mhz. I dont want a new CPU coz then i need to change everything.

Thx for the advise! I think i have to go for the ATI one

Well you'll be happy with it. tbh the rest of your system would be such a bottleneck that anything more (or even that for that matter) is overkill

Well you'll be happy with it. tbh the rest of your system would be such a bottleneck that anything more (or even that for that matter) is overkill

My main goal righ now is to play BF2 on all HIGH settings. So with a new VGA and +1 GB ram it will be possible right?
I also know that for next get games like Far Cry 2 or Crysis i better get new CPU and DDR3 and all that stuff.
In the future maybe or when i get bored to BF2

Yeah that card will definitely run BF2 on high... not 100% sure about the CPU.

but it will let u play some older games (like bf2, css probably cod4)

Its okey so I played COD4 demo on medium settings. I can run BF2 on high but i get some hardware lag i guess my 6600GT with 256 MB is not enough for the AA settings

Your CPU is going to bottleneck, but since it's PCI-E, you can re-use the card when you upgrade, so it's pretty cool.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. I run it on all high, just because I want it to look as good as possible. It's actually quite beautiful when you're flying on some bright map.

Nah come on its just beautyful! Thats my goal, so i play now on medium and all shadow stuff and light stuff off.
If i get the VGA and turn all on high that means +2 years of BF2 fun. You know like a new game

True i got 2x512 Kingston, but i plan to buy 2x1GB GEIL DDR same 400 Mhz as my actual Kingston. So I will have the 2x1GB GEIL in my PC.
I also thought that i may try to add my 2x512 so at the end i would have 3GB. My friends said that it could make the whole stuff slower.

Any suggestions? Should i try it with 3GB or just leave 2GB?
